The Beatles played a show at the Forest Hills Tennis Stadium in New York today in 1964. Afterward they retired to their hotel, where Bob Dylan came to meet them and reportedly introduced them to the evil weed.

The Beach Boys were at number 3 on the U.S. charts today in 1965 with a song Brian Wilson wrote on LSD: California Girls was again a hit 20 years later for Van Halen’s newly solo David Lee Roth, who was not on acid at the time, but did get Beach Boy Carl Wilson to contribute background vocals.

Bob Dylan started a North America tour tonight in 1965 at the Forest Hills Tennis Stadium in New York where he had corrupted The Beatles a year before. The first half of his set was acoustic fold, the second he went electric, backed by Robbie Robertson and Levon Helm of The Band.
