McCartney will kick off his 2011 On the Run Tour — a reference to his classic 1973 album “Band on the Run” — at the Bronx landmark, Yankee Stadium, July 15. It will be nearly three hours of his best loved and most known music, with hits, deep cuts and surprises spanning his unrivalled career, from The Beatles, Wings, and solo material.
There might be more shows added if this one sells out. Like in 2009 — when McCartney did three sold-out nights in the Big Apple at Citi Field. McCartney, who is 68 (he turns 69 on June 18), will perform at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas tomorrow, June 9, which is considered the last show of his 2010-2011 Up and Coming Tour. No other dates for the “On the Run” tour have been announced yet.
