Sarah’s Beer of the Week 05.05.16

In honor of Cinco de Mayo, for my beer of the week…a Michelada!  If you haven’t had one, it’s a beer cocktail, very popular in Mexico.  It combines Mexican lager, hot sauce, Worcestershire, soy and lime juice.  Start by using a cut lime to rim the beer glass.  Then, just like with a margarita, salt the rim.  Put the salt on a plate, and dip the glass onto the top of the plate covered in salt.  If you like things very spicy, you can add a little chili powder to the salt.  Then, squeeze the lime into the glass.  Add a dash of or two Worcester, one dash soy sauce, and one dash of the hot sauce of your choosing.  Then, add the Mexican beer of your choosing!  I am a big fan of Negra Modela.  It’s very dark, with more substance than a Corona, but not heavy on the palate like a stout.  Some add tomato juice, or Clamato to this mix, but I prefer it without.  If you want to try something a little different this year for Cinco de Mayo, check out my pictures, follow the easy recipe, and…CHEERS!!
