Bruce Springsteen Pays Tribute to Glenn Frey

By Hayden Wright

Since the death of Eagles co-founder Glenn Frey, the rock community has paid tribute to his deep legacy and contributions to American music. Last night, Bruce Springsteen performed a live version of “Take It Easy” to a packed arena in Chicago, complete with a mournful violin solo and an audience light up with cell phone flashlights.

Irving Azoff, manager of the Eagles, tweeted his gratitude with the simple message: “Thanks Bruce. You’re a class act.”

This has been a tour of untimely tributes for Springsteen: In Pittsburgh last week, he covered David Bowie’s “Rebel Rebel.” “Take It Easy” isn’t brand new to Springsteen’s setlist: last year, he performed the song with co-writer Jackson Browne.
