In an era where some of music’s biggest artists drop albums our of nowhere, the release of the new AC/DC record has seemed like a marathon to get to this point. There were years of rumors and soundbites, then the medical departure of Malcolm Young from the band, and then the legal allegations (and personal ones) on drummer Phil Rudd. Somehow, the band hasn’t lost sight of the task at hand: releasing their 16th studio album. But, finally, the day to hear a new AC/DC record is here.
Rock or Bust, produced by Brendan O’Brien of Pearl Jam recording fame, is now available to stream on iTunes. The album is also notable as the shortest AC/DC album ever recorded, and their first LP since 2008’s Black Ice. In that year, AC/DC held the second biggest debut week for any album in the U.S. in 2008, behind Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III.
