Mike Gastineau:      SEAHAWKS LUCKY THINGS DIDN’T GET WORSE Read More

Neil Young isn’t a guy to plan too far in advance, so it may have been a surprise to some when he declared that he will never perform with Crosby Stills Nash and Young again.

He made the statement from the stage at a solo acoustic concert in Philadelphia last Wednesday, according to Jambase.

Jambase reports that Young picked up an acoustic guitar and said, “This was given to me by my good friend Stephen Stills.” After an audience member yelled something at him, he responded, “CSNY will never tour again, ever… but I love those guys.”

CSNY last performed at the Bridge School benefit concert in Mountain View, Calif., last year. In interviews, Young is usually open-ended about his future plans, never quite ruling anything out, without ever committing to do anything; he doesn’t usually declare something to be over. So what was behind his statement about the end of his long-time on-again off-again supergroup?

Possibly David Crosby’s comment to the Idaho Statesman (via the Huffington Post) where he referred to Young’s possible new girlfriend Daryl Hannah unfavorably.

“And I happen to know that he’s hanging out with somebody that’s a purely poisonous predator now,” Crosby said. “And that’s karma. He’s gonna get hurt. But I understand why it happened. I’m just sad about it. I’m always sad when I see love get tossed in the gutter.”
