Tonight, during the decisive National League Divisional Series game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the St. Louis Cardinals, Mike Jones will be glued to the tube, putting his heart and soul into the most important baseball game to enter his life in 21 years.
Jones, who donned a jersey older than associate producer Tori today, is hoping Buctober continues.
The Pirates, of course, are facing a familiar foe. It’ll be their 24th meeting of the season against the Birds — as of today, the Pirates hold 12-11 edge.
As a diehard San Diego Padres fan, I naturally go for the small market clubs (Pirates, Royals, Indians, that team here in Seattle). And, as a soon-to-be husband of a ROOT Sports employee, I really have no choice but to go for the Pirates.
All that being said, we (Jones, interwebs guy, Pirates Nation) would dearly appreciate your unbridled support tonight while watching Game 5 of the NLDS. There are plenty of things you can do:
1) Talk like a Pirate all day
2) Blast The Cynics at some point (one of Pittsburgh’s finest garage outfits)
3) Go online and purchase a slab of steel from one of Pittsburgh’s more than 300 steel-related businesses
I will go out on a limb and say a Bucs victory could make Thursday’s episode of the Danny Bonaduce Show the best ever.
