A fellow KZOK employee discovered a relatively new beer brewery in Bellevue, and recommend it to me this week. I know she has great taste in beer, so I decided to see what Bellevue Brewing Company was all about. I drove up there and decided to get a growler filled and bring some beer home. I thought home would be the best place to watch some NCAA action, until I went in and realized they have a great TV setup! The brewery serves food, has TV’s, and a super friendly staff. I love the set up; it’s very open, has high ceilings, and feels modern and fresh. I got two growlers filled (they’re a bargain), and was excited to bring them home. I got the oatmeal stout, since that’s my husbands favorite, and the ESB for myself. This ESB is my perfect session beer. It’s just over 5%, has a ton of flavor, light carbonation and is super drinkable. Sometimes I feel an ESB is overly malty, but not in the case of Bellevue Brewing Company. Perfect balance of malt and light hops. While Matt is the big stout drinker, that didn’t mean he wouldn’t share with me. I’m picky with my stouts, and don’t lean towards the ones that are too full of coffee and chocolate. That is breakfast and dessert in my eyes. These guys know how to make a stout for Sarah! It’s got coffee hints, and is slightly smoky, malty, brown sugary and yummy. It’s incredibly smooth, and has an awesome taste, and no acrid after taste. It looked nice and rich in the glass too. I was so excited to discover a new brewery, and can’t wait to go back for IPA, Scotch Ale and whatever else they have to offer. I’m sold. I think next time I’ll check out the food too, the menu has a nice mix of vegetarian and meat, healthy and indulgent. See you there!
