This year’s Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival will see one of the pioneering folk rock groups taking the stage alongside contemporary artists, as Buffalo Springfield gets set to perform at the Tennessee festival with original members [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Neil Young[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Stephen Stills[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Richie Furay[/lastfm] (they’re also on a short US tour).

Last.fm Trends looks at the listening trends behind the 1960s supergroup and its members, to see how they’re doing in the 21st century.

buffalotrend Last.fm Trends: Buffalo Springfield On The Hot Dusty Road To TennesseeBuffalo Springfield counts 3,992,731 plays from 535,860 listeners on Last.fm, with their biggest track “For What It’s Worth” well passing the 1 million plays mark. Its Recent Listening Trend is indicative of a classic, with only minor fluctuation in listeners 44 years after its release.

Of course, individual members have gone on to help define American rock, and their Last.fm listenership matches this: Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young counts 5,772,747 plays from 556,666 listeners, whilst Neil Young solo has reached a huge 33,372,016 plays from 1,088,293 listeners.

However, Buffalo Springfield’s brief career has earned them a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and their set should be a reminder of how their 1960s themes – and tunes – are still relevant today.
