More than 650 items of pop culture memorabilia will be auctioned off as part of the Icons and Idols sale on December 3 and 4. The pieces will be auctioned off by Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills, according to Reuters.
The auction will be the largest sale of Lennon or Beatles items ever, according to auction organizers. And the most expensive item might be a jacket worn by Lennon for a Life magazine photo shoot in 1966.
The white and gold braided jacket, similar in style to the Sgt. Pepper outfits, might fetch as much as $200,000.
Other Lennon items include self portraits, a collage he made for Elton John’s 28th birthday and a guitar played by both Lennon and Elvis Presley during a Los Angeles jam session. The guitar is expected to go for upwards of $100,000.
